In today's news, Amnesty International's new annual report calls on China, the EU, Russia, and the United States to lead a reinvigorated and collective effort to advance human rights around the world. Britain is in love with huge 'American-style' fridges. But just because you have the room doesn't mean you should pack it with food.

Twenty years ago, we didn't really think about fridges. They were usually small and cupboard-like. They smelled a bit. They had a "freezer compartment" - often a solid berg of frost into which was set a broken ice-tray and a rogue oven chip - and they made that reassuring "thunkety humm" noise at odd intervals throughout the night.
